Visit to England (Teacher Exchange) -
Cumbria
In February 2009, Ms. Wallace and Mrs. O’Neill travelled to
Cumbria on a teacher exchange as part of our Comenius
project. The purpose of this visit was to show two of our
partner schools, Hayton Primary School and Lees Hill Primary
School, the work some of our children had completed as part
of our Comenius project. Our teachers took with them some
project work based on the history of schools in Ireland. It
was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all involved.
In March 2010 four
staff members returned for a flying visit to both schools.
It was a hugely rewarding experience for all four. Many
excellent work practices were witnessed and based on these
some suggestions have been made to both the Parents'
Association and the Board of Management as to how to improve
the lot of the pupils in SHNS. It was great to see the
project work of the Dutch, English and Irish schools
displayed with such pride in Hayton and Lees Hill. It is
hoped that our work (click on the Saints link opposite) will
further enhance contacts between the schools.
